District Conference at Torquay 2005: look who's in town!

Twenty-six Club members and wives turned out in style for the District Governor's Chigago-theme evening
at the District 1250 Conference in Torquay in late September.

As ugly a bunch of gangsters as you've seen ...

That's President Paul Harris with the wicked leer and the violin case; that's Bugsy Hay in the fancy garb.
The others you really don't want to know about.

Don't mess with these gals ...

Look's like they're just back after another day at the shops

The District Governor's visit

 DG Ian Swales

A couple of weeks after the Conference, District Governor Ian Swales was back at the Club for his official visit.

Ian has been to see us several times at the Bent Arms in recent years and he knows us well.

The camera seem to have caught him here in full flow, clearly warming to his theme.

Visit to Bruges in November

Early in November, Michael Harper's International Committee arranged a three-day trip to Bruges by coach and Eurotunnel.
A party of 23 members and wives enjoyed a throughly good time together wandering around the historic city of Bruges
(with one day devoted to the equally interesting town of Ghent), coupled with some fine dining and a comprehensive sampling of good Belgian beers.
